The Irish Prisons Service will have its own stand at the Public Service Careers Expo 2001 which will be held in the Shelbourne Hall, RDS Dublin on Sunday, 22 April, 2001. The Expo will start at 10 a.m. and finish at 6 p.m. The primary purpose of the Expo is to raise the profile of careers in the public sector. It allows public service employers to meet prospective candidates for employment in the public sector. The essential message being communicated is that the public sector has a lot to offer.
Because the public sector is such a large entity the Expo will be divided into five separate 'villages' each encompassing the following areas: Civil Service; Health; Local Authority: Education: and Semi State. Each organisation within those 'villages' will have its own stand.
The Prisons Service stand in the Civil Service village will be 'manned' by a number of serving prison officers and one or two headquarters officials. This is the same approach that was taken at last year's Expo and it proved a great success. Members of the public were impressed by the appearance and presentational skills of all of the officers and officials on the stand and we expect a similar response this year.
A short guide to a career in the prisons service as well as other documentation will be available to visitors to the stand. |
