General Description: A closed, medium security prison for adult males. Its prisoner profile is largely made up of long term sentenced prisoners.
Visiting Times:
Normal visiting times are Monday to Saturday from 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm. Sentenced offenders are entitled to one 30 minute visit per week. Additional special visits may also be available on request.
Each prisoner must nominate six adults who will visit him (there is no limit on the number of children) and those visitors must produce photographic identification on arrival at the prison. Staff will explain the visiting procedures. Mobile phones are not allowed in the prison and there is a no smoking policy in operation during the visit.

By Bus: From city centre take the number 37, 38, 39, 70 or 172 bus.
By Car: Check website www.aaroadwatch.ie for up to date directions.
By Train: Heuston station is the nearest train station and is within easy walking distance of Arbour Hill Prison. Check www.irishrail.ie for service times. On leaving the station cross the River Liffey to the Aisling Hotel, turn right and take first left (up hill) and follow main road to prison gate.
