General Description: A semi-open, low security prison for males aged 18 years and over, with a strong emphasis on work and training.
Visiting Times:
Normal visiting times are Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 7.30pm. Sentenced offenders are entitled to one 30 minute visit each week. Special visits of 30 minutes duration may also be available on Wednesday between 2pm and 4pm on request to the Governor. All visits must be booked in advance by calling (01) 8858982.
Each prisoner may nominate up to eight adults to visit him (there is no limit on the number of children) and those visitors must produce photographic identification on arrival at the prison. Staff will explain the visiting procedures. Mobile phones are not allowed in the prison and there is a no smoking policy in operation during the visit.

The prison is located opposite the Mater Hospital on the North Circular Road. Entrance to Glengarriff Parade by Ormsby’s shop beside Mountjoy Garda Station.
