The primary strategic goal of Procurement is to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement in providing support for the safe and effective delivery of the mission of the Irish Prison Service. All procurement in the Irish Prison Service is carried out in accordance with the Procurement policy, which is available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format HERE (3Mb).
The IPS expenditure on suppliers, works and services (excluding staff salaries) amount to approximately €125 million per annum. This expenditure extends across a diverse range of products that include highly complex building projects, security equipment, medicines, victualling, uniforms, professional services and ICT.
These supplies, work and services are key tools of the IPS staff who provide custodial services to prisoners. The quality, timely delivery and use of supplies, works and services are key elements for the IPS in providing this service.
Tenders for Irish Government contracts, including those for the Irish Prison Service, are normally advertised through the Irish Government Tenders Website whcih can be found at : www.etenders.gov.ie
