Clinical Information from Family and Friends

Family members and significant others can play an important role in supporting a person’s psychological and physical care. Where appropriate, we welcome relevant collateral information that may help our clinicians to better understand an individual’s history and needs.

This may include background information, observations, or copies of any previous psychological, psychiatric, medical, educational or other specialist reports and assessments. This also applies to any information (results, hospital appointments etc.) pertaining to an individual that arrives during their time in custody, these should also be brought to the attention of the Irish Prison Service to ensure continuity of care.

In the first instance, please contact info@irishprisons.ie to advise that you wish to submit collateral information to the relevant service, and you will be directed to the appropriate contact point.

Please do not send any collateral information until contact has been established with the relevant service. All information received will be treated in confidence and handled in line with data protection requirements and Irish Prison Service policies.
