The Irish Prison Service would like congratulate Limerick female prisoners who supported and assisted a number of Transition Students across the Tipperary region by raising awareness on the impact of crime on people with disabilities. This project was entitled “Inside Out” and resulted in the student group winning a National Community Award as part of the overall National Garda Awards 2021.
The ceremony took place last Saturday in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise. The Irish Prison Service, Director General was in attendance along side guest of Honour Kellie Harrington, Olympic Gold Medallist and MC was Marty Morrissey.
Governors, Mark Kennedy and Theresa Beirne were the leads on this project and was an excellent opportunity for the Irish Prison Service to work together and form partnerships with the HSE, An Garda Siochana and the Department of Education.
