Recovery Month - September 17th, 2026

The Irish Prison Service is marking Recovery Month with a series of events throughout this month.

At Cork and Mountjoy Prisons, the buildings have been illuminated purple to demonstrate to the public our commitment to supporting those in recovery.

The purpose of Recovery Month is to make recovery visible, celebrate the people who achieve it, and strengthen public understanding of addiction and mental health recovery.

At its core, Recovery Month exists to show that treatment works, recovery is real, and no one has to do it alone.
