By Bus: From Dublin City Centre take the number 40 bus.
By Car: Check website www.aaroadwatch.ie for up to date directions. Free car parking is available in the visitors car park across the road from Wheatfield Prison. Clampers are in operation in all our car parks.
By Train: Mainline station is Heuston and local station is Clondalkin. Check www.irishrail.ie for service times.
Visiting Times: Visits by appointment are in operation in Wheatfield Prison. Prisoners may nominate up to twelve visitors on their visitors panel.. Visitors, once nominated, may either book a visit by ringing the dedicated booked visits phone at 01 7789401 or book a visit in person in the visitors waiting room.

All nominated visitors must arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of visiting time and must also present valid (in date) photographic ID on each and every visit to the Prison i.e Passport, Driving Licence or Garda ID Card.

The booking line is open from 9:00am to 12:30pm & 2:00pm to 4:30pm (Thursday 2:30pm to 4:30pm) Monday to Saturday.

Booking sessions are as follows:

10.00am, 10.45am & 11.30am

2.15pm, 3.00pm & 3.45pm

The maximum number of adults permitted on a visit is three and the maximum number of children permitted on a visit is three. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Prisoners have a privilege of two 30 minute visit per week.

There are no visits on Sundays or Christmas Day. There are limited family visits on Tuesday mornings and no family visits on Tuesday afternoons.

Passive dogs are in operation in Wheatfield Prison.

All visitors and staff are processed through our security screen area. Visitors are advised that mobile phones or any personal items are not permitted into Wheatfield Prison & must be left in the visitors waiting room. Lockers are available for personal items in the visitors waiting room - €1 refundable.

Legal visitors must book by fax on company headed paper, stating the name of the prisoner, PRIS No./DOB if available, name & profession of visitors, date & time slot. Only legal visits will be booked through this dedicated legal visits fax line - 01 7789402.

Booking sessions are as follows for legal visits:

10.00am, 10.45am & 11.30am

2.15pm, 3.00pm & 3.45pm

5.45pm to 6.15pm & 6.30pm to 7.00pm.

Special requests by Legal Visitors to bring in additional professionals or equipment must be made to the Governor in advance by faxing the general office fax line - 01 7789430.

Wheatfield Prison operates a non smoking policy.

All visitors or to Wheatfield Prison are subject to the Provisons of the 2007 Prisons Act.
