The Victims Charter

The purpose of the Victims Charter is to help you find the support you need when you become a victim of crime. The Charter also describes the Criminal Justice System so that you can understand what to expect.

The journey you will face when you become a Victim of Crime can be divided into three stages: Support and Reporting Stage, the Courts Process and The Post-Trial Stage. This website will provide to you information from the Victims Charter that will be relevant to you at each of these steps. It also has a section on your rights and the Law.

When you become a victim of a crime, it is important that you know you will be listened to and you will be supported. You may wish to reach out for support even before you want to report the crime.

After the crime has been committed you are encouraged to report it so it can be investigated. This is the Report Stage.  Click here for information on Support and Reporting of a crime. (External Link)
